Feeling stressed? why not try this gentle meditation

Set the scene, light a candle, dim the lights and put on an ambient cd, make sure you are comfortable. Now close your eyes, and slow your breathing as you relax, with each breath out you are releasing stress, with each breath in you are breathing in sunshine and warmth.

Now see yourself walking through a beautiful woodland, all around you are the sounds and smells of the woodland, yet in the distance you can hear the sound of running water, you feel pulled toward the sound, and start following it, as you walk through the wood to the water you notice how gentle the breeze is, it’s cool against your skin, the path turns and meanders as you follow the sounds.

Then just there is the source of the water, it’s a beautiful stream gently gurgling over little stones and pebbles, there is a big oak tree just by the side of the stream, you can sit by the stream and just let all the stress flow from you. As you sit there with your eyes closed, you can feel all the stress flowing from your body out through the soles of your feet and into the water; you can see it in the water swirling away from you. Stay there as long as you feel the need to.

When you feel the time is right and you have released all the stress, you can start making your way back along the path out of the woods and back to the here and now.
